Every summer the newspaper De Standaard gives nonprofit organizations the chance to put themselves in the spotlight with a striking advertisement. A jury selects the 24 best ads, which then compete for the Solidarity Award. During the summer, every ad is published on a full page in the newspaper, and the winner receives an extra four pages of free advertising space in the newspaper. As in every year, Vétérinaires Sans Frontières Belgium took part, but this year we did not make the final cut. We do, however, want to share our ad with you.
Vets also save human lives
A veterinarian like Habibou saves more lives than one would think… In Africa, millions of people survive thanks to their livestock. Their animals are a source of food and income. When farmers lose their herds, they lose everything. Vétérinaires Sans Frontières Belgium supports local populations in their struggle against hunger and poverty by helping to care for livestock and improve production. So by saving the lives of animals, vets like Habibou also save human lives. That is why ‘Healthy animals, healthy people’ is the slogan of Vétérinaires Sans Frontières Belgium.
