Healthy animals, healthy people, healthy planet

In Africa, millions of people depend on their livestock. Vétérinaires Sans Frontières Belgium is developing animal health care there along with the local population and supporting agro-ecological livestock keeping. Together, we use training, equipment and medicines to keep their livestock and the surrounding environment healthy, so that the people can live their lives in dignity. Our special attention to the health of ecosystems also reduces the risk of diseases crossing from wild animals to humans and livestock. In this way, we help to prevent pandemics such as Covid-19 and Ebola.

What we do

Vétérinaires Sans Frontières Belgium helps livestock farmers in nine African countries. We vaccinate and care for herds, and we support livestock-keeping families so that they can apply ecologically responsible livestock-keeping practices. In Belgium, we provide information and raise awareness of sustainable food production and consumption in the fight against climate change and pandemics.

You can help, too

Help us fight pandemics. Make animal health care accessible to more livestock keepers. Promote agro-ecological livestock keeping. Make a donation, do work experience or work as a volunteer.

Our approach

With your support, African livestock farmers can overcome their poverty themselves. Thanks to animals, training, materials and animal healthcare, they can provide enough food for themselves and for the market. The whole village gets better as a result.

If the herd is sick, the village dies

If African cattle farmers lose their herd because of illness, drought or conflict, they lose everything: their pride, culture, savings and food. You can help them. Make the world a better place and give African families a better future.
